Test to Release is a new Government testing strategy aimed at reducing the length of time travellers to England have to self-isolate. The new testing scheme is for anyone travelling from countries not on the Government’s travel corridor list. It applies to anyone arriving or returning to England from these countries via plane, ferry or train.
Anyone arriving in England from a country not on the Government’s travel corridor list currently have to self-isolate for 10-days. The new testing strategy can shorten self-isolation upon receipt of a negative test after 5 days of self-isolation.
According to the Government website: 'Under the ‘Test to release for international travel’ strategy, passengers arriving into England by plane, ferry or train should book their test before they travel; must complete a passenger locator form; and will still need to self-isolate for 5 days before taking a test – rather than taking it at their port of arrival.
The Government guidance stipulates that the coronavirus test should be taken 5 days after arriving in England from countries not on the Governments travel corridor list. Travellers still need to self-isolate until they have a negative test result.
Yes. The Government guidance stipulate that travellers from countries not on the Government's travel corridor list must self-isolate for 14-days upon arrival in England. Travellers now have the option to reduce the 14-day self-isolation period by taking a coronavirus test 5 days after arriving in England. A negative test result will allow travellers to end self-isolation.
