Ferritin Test

Our ferritin test is a home blood test kit that lets you check levels and identify whether you might be iron deficient or even at risk of anaemia.

Ferritin is the main form by which iron is stored in the body and is therefore the best marker of iron deficiency. If your iron levels are low or high, ferritin will be the first indicator. Being deficient in iron can lead to feelings of weakness, lethargy and fatigue.

As well as monitoring iron deficiency, our home ferritin blood test kit can also be used to identify and monitor iron overload (Haemochromatosis), a disorder which causes too much iron to be absorbed from the diet. Iron overload can also cause fatigue, but in addition can cause abdominal pain, inflammation of the liver and joint pain. Iron overload is an inherited condition, which usually begins to exhibit symptoms in those aged between 30 and 60.

Our home test kits make private ferritin tests affordable and simple. Take your sample at home with the kit, send it back to us and it will be analysed at an accredited UK lab. You'll then have a detailed picture of your levels available to you  on an easy to understand dashboard.

Why take a ferritin test?

  • To establish whether you may be deficient in iron or anaemic
  • To monitor existing low iron levels
  • To monitor an existing iron overload condition
  • To establish the cause of weakness and fatigue

Benefits of ferritin testing

Our ferritin test kit allows you to quickly gain insight into the levels of ferritin in your body and thus the levels of iron.

By establishing iron levels you gain a clear insight into any risk of either iron deficiency/anaemia or iron overload.

Should you establish you have low ferritin levels, you can then make necessary dietary modifications or seek further assistance to improve them and then track levels over time.

This is the ideal kit for anyone seeking out an iron blood test. You receive the kit, provide a sample using a simple finger prick test and then post it to our lab. From there, it will be just days until you have your ferritin level results available for your to view on a really clear and easy to understand dashboard, which tracks your numbers over time.
