Frequently asked questions

This is what our customers ask us about the most. For more information, try our help centre.

How accurate are your at-home STI tests?

Our STI tests are analysed in accredited UK laboratories using the same high-quality methods used by the NHS. When used correctly, they offer the same level of clinical accuracy as a sexual health clinic.

For women, we recommend choosing the vaginal swab option where available, as research shows it’s more sensitive than urine samples — detecting 94.1% of infections.

Which infections does each test cover?

We offer three levels of testing depending on your needs:

  • Basic STI Test: Tests for Chlamydia and Gonorrhoea.
  • Standard STI Test: Tests for Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, HIV and Syphilis.
  • Comprehensive STI Test: Covers all six key infections — Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, HIV, Syphilis, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C.

How do I collect my sample at home?

Our tests are simple to complete at home, with full instructions included:

  • The Basic STI Test requires either a urine sample or a vaginal swab.
  • The Standard and Comprehensive Tests require a finger-prick blood sample, along with either a urine sample or a vaginal swab.

For women, we recommend using a vaginal swab, as studies show it offers greater sensitivity — picking up more infections than urine samples in clinical research.

How quickly will I get my results?

Your results will be available within 3 working days of your sample reaching our lab. You’ll receive a secure notification when they’re ready to view in the app.

Is the packaging discreet?

Yes. All our test kits are sent in plain, unbranded packaging to protect your privacy, with no indication of the contents or the sender.

What happens if I test positive?

You’ll receive clear guidance on the next steps if your results indicate an infection. This includes clinically reviewed advice and recommendations for treatment. You can also share your results with your GP or local sexual health clinic for further support.

How often should I take a test?

If you’re sexually active, it’s recommended to test regularly — particularly when:

  • You’ve had unprotected sex
  • You’re starting a new relationship
  • You’ve had multiple partners
  • You’re experiencing any symptoms

Regular testing helps protect your health and that of your partners.

Are your tests suitable for both men and women?

Yes, our STI tests are designed for use by both men and women. Instructions will guide you on how to collect the right sample type based on your biological sex.

Can I use this test if I have no symptoms?

Absolutely. Many STIs have no noticeable symptoms. Regular testing is a smart way to detect infections early and take control of your sexual health.

Are your tests approved and safe to use?

Yes. All our STI tests are CE-marked and processed in UKAS-accredited laboratories. You can trust that they meet the highest standards for safety, reliability and accuracy.

Is my information kept confidential?

Yes. Your personal details, test results and health data are kept 100% confidential. Only you can access your results through your secure Forth account. We will never share your information with anyone else without your consent.

Will anyone know what I’ve ordered?

No. All test kits are sent in plain, unbranded packaging, with no indication of what’s inside or who it’s from. There’s no mention of sexual health or STI testing anywhere on the package.

How are my results delivered?

Your results are delivered to your account which you can view in our mobile app. You’ll receive a discreet notification when they’re ready — we won’t send any sensitive information by post or email.

Do you share my results with my GP or any other services?

No, your results are for your eyes only. If you’d like to share them with your GP or a sexual health clinic, you can easily download a copy from your account.
