What is a Tasso blood test?
A Tasso blood test is a way of collecting your blood sample at home without pricking your finger. Instead of coaxing drops from a fingertip, you place a small AutoDraw device on your upper arm and let it do the collecting for you. It gathers capillary blood into a tube that goes straight to a UKAS-accredited laboratory for analysis to NHS standards.
Some people feel light-headed at the sight of a lancet. Others have struggled to fill a fingerprick tube on a cold morning, or have quietly put off a blood test because the process felt like a hurdle. For all of them, this changes the experience completely, because the science behind your results stays the same while the way you get there becomes far gentler. The Tasso blood collection kit is available with 28 Forth tests, so you can choose the insight you need and the collection method that suits your body.
How Tasso blood collection works?
The device pairs a tiny lancet with gentle vacuum suction, so collecting your sample takes just a few simple steps:
- Drink a large glass of water about 30 minutes beforehand and find a warm, relaxed spot to sit.
- Warm your upper arm with the heat pack in your kit, then clean the skin with the alcohol wipe and let it dry.
- Press the device firmly onto your arm and click the red button once. Most people feel a brief press rather than a sharp sting.
- Leave the device in place for around five minutes with your arm relaxed by your side while the vacuum draws blood into the tube. There’s nothing to watch, squeeze or massage.
- When the tube reaches its fill line, twist the device away, cap the tube and gently invert it ten times.
- Pack the tube into the prepaid return envelope and post it the same day.
The first two steps matter more than they look, because a steady blood flow gives the lab a good-quality sample to work with.
