Why I Founded Forth

It was 10 years ago that my health began to change. I was entering the perimenopause. I didn’t know it at the time, of course. And I certainly didn’t appreciate how much the changes in my hormone levels would impact my immediate and long-term health. However, what I did know was that I didn’t have enough knowledge or data on my own body.

Coincidentally, I worked in healthcare. So I was well aware of the rising pressures on the NHS. I could also see the gradual shift we’d all be making in the future to becoming stewards of our own health.

That was it. My lightbulb moment. And in 2016, Forth was born. Its aim was simple: to create a service that gave me a window into my own health, quickly and easily, without the need to visit my GP. One that would scientifically analyse my body’s unique biological make-up, and break it down into a format and language that I could understand.

Put simply, I wanted to take back control of my health, on my terms.

I was sure that other people would want that kind of service too. And sure enough, 10 years on from that lightbulb moment, Forth is one of the leading home diagnostic companies in the UK, helping people gain a scientific understanding of their own body so they can feel better and remain active and healthy well into their older years.

But our mission isn’t over. Since founding Forth, I’ve become increasingly frustrated by the shortcomings in women’s health and determined to help close the gender health data gap. In 2021, Forth became part of the FemTech revolution with the launch of MyFORM®. A ground-breaking product for women, MyFORM® uses a combination of AI and blood testing to map how a woman’s hormones fluctuate throughout her unique cycle.

I couldn’t be prouder of what we’ve achieved so far, or more excited for how we’ll advance women’s health for the future.
