Blood tests, whether done by your GP or by using an at-home blood test kit, are a great way to check and monitor your hormone levels. Here are the best hormone tests for women.
Hormone tests can help you:
Check your fertility
Check for a hormone imbalance
Symptoms and/or progression of perimenopause/menopause
Check for or monitor conditions like PCOS
Screen for the causes of symptoms like unwanted weight gain, hair growth and fatigue
Check the efficacy of hormone replacement therapy (HRT)
Our female hormone imbalance blood test is the perfect test for checking and monitoring fluctuations in your hormones. Along with your thyroid markers, it checks the 4 main female hormones – oestrogen, progesterone, FSH and LH. This gives you a complete look at what’s happening with your hormone network and what could be causing symptoms such as fatigue, weight gain, acne, irregular periods and fertility issues.
This test can be done by women using hormonal contraception and/or HRT.
If you’re having a regular period, collect your sample on day 3 of your menstrual cycle (day 1 being the first day of your period), otherwise take the test at any time.
Our female fertility blood test provides insights into your reproductive health, helping to identify potential issues affecting your ability to conceive.
By measuring key hormones such as FSH, LH, AMH, and oestrogen, the test can reveal conditions like polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), diminished ovarian reserve, or thyroid dysfunction.
Understanding these factors can help you get personalised treatment plans and make informed decisions about fertility options. The test can also guide lifestyle and health adjustments to enhance fertility.
This fertility test is an at-home, finger-prick test, making it an affordable alternative to specialist clinics. Collect your sample on day 3 of your menstrual cycle.
PCOS affects around 1 in 10 women in the UK and brings symptoms like irregular periods, excessive hair growth, difficulty conceiving and unwanted weight gain.
Our PCOS blood test checks female and male hormones (androgens) that can cause or be impacted by PCOS, such as testosterone.
Uncovering the hormone imbalance behind PCOS can help you get the help and treatment you need. It can help speed up the diagnosis process too, giving you quicker access to other tests, like an ultrasound scan.
The NHS uses 3 criteria to diagnose PCOS:
Our PCOS blood test can be done at home and your blood sample is analysed at a UKAS-accredited lab, ensuring you get accurate results.
Perimenopause comes with a whole host of symptoms, from night sweats and brain fog to mood changes and digestive issues. However, many of these symptoms are often misdiagnosed.
Our MyFORM® Perimenopause Test is the first test of its kind in the UK. It uses 2 blood samples and groundbreaking AI to accurately map your hormone fluctuations across your menstrual cycle.
This, along with your symptoms, can be used to screen for perimenopause.
MyFORM® Perimenopause Test is an at-home blood test. You collect both samples from your fingertip, making it an affordable and convenient way of checking for perimenopause.
This test can be done by women not using hormonal contraceptives or HRT. Try our female hormone imbalance test if you are using them.
Our menopause health test is a health check-up for women who have reached menopause or are post-menopause.
It checks key areas of your health such as your heart and bones, as well as hormones that affect your mood, sleep and energy.
Osteoporosis is a common condition in postmenopausal women, caused by hormonal changes. This test helps you check your hormone levels, giving you an early warning system to protect and strengthen your bones.
For this test, you should collect your blood sample no later than 3 hours after waking up. If you’re still having periods, collect your blood sample on the 3rd day of your period. If you no longer have periods, you can take the test at any time.
Oestrogen and Progesterone are key female hormones that can be checked at home using home blood tests. Checking these hormones in isolation can be useful, but you may not get the complete picture. We recommended testing oestrogen and progesterone as part of a complete hormone panel, such as in the female hormone tests mentioned above.
